Self Love Sessions

FUTURE IS FEMALE

Often times, Raelyn Ramey and I have these ideas we have dreamed up inside our heads for months, before we actually execute them. We had this idea to offer bohemian-inspired boudoir mini sessions, with the theme centered around self love.  Our main goal being: inspire women to feel amazing in their own skin and empower them to be the bad ass babes they truly are. Last month we made our dreams a reality, and we got to meet some really, really amazing ladies.

Damn Gina...

We created a dreamy setting consisting of beautiful flowers, moody music, and champagne of course. It was SUCH an amazing weekend. We couldn't have asked for better weather. The sun was streaming through the tall open windows of my Sherman Hill apartment, offering up some gorgeous lighting for the dreamiest of photos. My cat Harry, for one, was soaking up the sun and the extra attention. :)

But let me tell you, this weekend was about more than just flower crowns and pretty pictures. These amazing women booked a Self Love Session for a variety of reasons, but mostly because they wanted to put themselves first for once. It was a chance for them to push all their troubles aside and just truly relish in their self love.

"I am mine, before anyone else's."

The Self Love Sessions couldn't have happened without these talented ladies in my life. Raelyn killed it with the photos and designing the incredible boudoir books that each lady got to take home with them. Marie has always been my number one gal when it comes to makeup. There's nobody that I trust more with my face. Brooke drove all the way from Omaha to help me with the set up!! She brought tons of beautiful props and even pieces from her wardrobe for the sessions. Seriously, I will never take for granted how wonderful my friends are. I love you babes!!

Lilac Dreams

Lilac dreams do come true.

It was a perfect 72 degrees on Sunday. My friend and talented photographer Alex Crahan took me to Ewing Park and snapped my photos in front of the most beautiful lilac bushes I have ever seen. The smell was intoxicating and it was one of those days you'd wish would last forever. I kept saying, "Why can't it always just be this wonderful?" I'm so thankful that I got to hang out with Alex, and that she was able to artfully document just how perfect that spring day was. Even though the weather won't last forever, at least I have these photos to look back on and admire. Thank you so much Alex. You have such a gift and are so unique to your craft.

This purple dress was so lovely to prance around in! Best part: it will be for sale soon in Alex's new etsy shop! Be sure to check out Chautauqua Park Vintage. She has a seriously lovely collection for you to shop.

Flower crowns and wedding gowns

Fresh new styles from:

Finally spring is upon us! The magnolia trees are starting to blossom, the weather is warming up, and everything (and everyone!) is becoming a bit more alive. In case the new season isn't enough to inspire you, I have a feeling these new designs from Dame & Maiden will!

This embroidered floral gown is obviously my favorite. This is perfect for a bride who's non-traditional and a little bit quirky. Also, how beautiful are those giant paper flowers made by Sofia Alexander Blooms + Events? The talent in this little city never ceases to amaze me.

Madonna Inn

This year I made the best decision ever and stayed at the Madonna Inn for my birthday. This place is a magical wonderland that fulfilled my wildest kitschy dreams. My friend Nikala and I stayed in the BEST room called the Love Nest. It was so amazing down to every last pink and gold detail.

We had dinner at the Gold Rush steakhouse and it was just lovely as can be. I was obsessed with the pink booths and the different colored goblets that we drank out of. Oh and the pink champagne cake we had for dessert wasn't bad either.  Everyone kept approaching us to tell us how beautiful we were! One guy went as far to even ask us if we were cherubs. He literally got out of his booth, mid-dinner, to come over and talk to us. I don't think he meant we looked like chubby toddlers with wings, but we took it's a compliment anyway. He was a nice old guy rockin a cowboy hat, but I forget his name.

Friday Muse

On Wednesday I had the opportunity to shoot with my friend Alyssa while the weather was still somewhat decent. We walked around the Sherman Hill neighborhood and took advantage of the fleeting Autumn daylight.  She took some really magnificent photos of me in my floral Matilda Muse dress! You can't really tell from the photos but its long sleeved and pretty much my favorite. If you have the chance you should stop in Matilda Muse located in the East Village. They get really cute (and so affordable) stuff in weekly! You should also contact Alyssa Leicht and hire her to take your portrait. She's so talented and also really fun to hang out with!

Whimsical maternity shoot

Yesterday I joined my friend Raelyn on a fall maternity shoot that was nothing short of magical. I love it when she asks me to help style photo-shoots,  and it's something I would like to become more involved in. I decided I wanted to start blogging about it and sharing some 'behind the scenes shots'. For this shoot I pulled some items from my closet for the beautiful soon to be mom to wear, grabbed some flower crowns, and brought along one of the stunning pink velvet chairs I purchased from The Porch Junkies to use as a photo prop!

So we went to Water Works Park and the lighting was so lovely. Days like this remind you how good it is to be alive. Not really prepared for the winter yet. Let's just relish these last few warm weather days, shall we?
